We see a nation that has been devastated not only by a horrific natural disaster, but one that has been plagued by corruption, exploitation, and poverty for the past two centuries. Considered to be the poorest country in the western hemisphere, Haiti deserves justice from the international community. We stand in solidarity with the popular movement of the poor and back the aspirations of the grassroots organizations who are committed to promoting democracy and education. All of our proceeds benefit our partner school in Cite Soleil where 350 children receive an education.
•Educate the Educated
-raise public awareness about the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Haiti
-actively try to change US foreign policy towards Haiti
•Stress Solidarity Vs. Charity
-partner with grassroots organizations in Haiti to provide resources and assistance for educational development
•
Encourage Craft for a Cause
-inspire students to take their talent and/or interest and use it to generate a profit, giving that profit back as a donation
-promote conscious consumption and the power of purchasing by hosting local events
We see a world in which every child has access to a good education. We are striving to eradicate the notion that education is a privilege, rather ensure it is a basic human right endowed to children worldwide.
Founded in Spring 2011, SEE is a student run organization committed to bringing educational equity to the country of Haiti. By encouraging social entrepreneurs to use their craft for a cause, SEE hopes to inspire students to utilize their own passions and talents in order to raise funds for Haitian grassroots organziations. A fusion of sustainable development and ethical leadership, SEE fosters a community of solidarity and consciousness.
